Brilliant wines from Central Europe

Brilliant Wines.

We have been called tenacious. Obsessed. And maybe even a little...stubborn. But whatever you call us, we’re ardent wine importers who are bringing brilliant wines from Europe into the hands of wine lovers in the United States.

Featured Wine Region: Moravia, Czech Republic

Czech wine is new, yet old-world at the same time. Czech wine can be edgy, playful, and approachable but also elegant, elevated, and serious. Czechs drink almost all the wine produced in the country, so very little of it is exported. Czech wine is elusive to the rest of the world, but locals know it’s brilliant.

It is a cool growing area with a continental climate so the wines are traditionally categorized as light to medium-bodied. They produce predominantly white and have a fairly pronounced level of acidity, so they have this refreshingness to them. They have around 19,000 hectares of vineyards. For comparison purposes, Alsace has just around 39,000 and Bordeaux is around 275,000.

About Ahtel Wines

Why might we be called tenacious? Because while most new import companies would rely on brand recognition or regional demand, we built Ahtel Wines to represent brilliant wines in a different way. We have an energy driving us to build awareness about the region and it’s wines. We want to be authentic in how we represent our winemakers and their vineyards.

While our first imported wines are from the Czech Republic, our growth plans include broadening our portfolio to encompass other underrepresented regions in Central Europe. There are many brilliant wines out there. We hope to get our hands on as many as we can.
